This plant is originally from Asia and Europe. Purple Loosestrife thrives most on disturbed, moist soils, invading the area most likely after some construction has taken place. An adult loosestrife can give off up to two million seeds annually. This plant has no effective predator in North America. They can reach heights of 2m and have thirty to fifty stems extending from the plant. Every state except for Florida has been infested with Purple Loosestrife.
