Round Gobies are native species to Central Eurasia. Commonly found in the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Adult Round Gobies are 10 to 25 cm in length. Populations of native sculpin and logperch have exhibited a substantial decline in the St. Clair River where gobies were first introduced. They tend to eat Darters, Sculpins, Logperch, other small fish and Zebra Mussels, which are another invasive species in the Great lakes. They are killing off some of our native birds as well by eating the zebra mussels who have a toxin in them that the round gobies are eating which our fish are also eating the round gobies which in turns gives them more of the toxin that the zebra mussels are producing.
